Waterproofing stage has recently gained significant attention due to the rising incidence of defects in the construction industry. At Altez we actively attend industry courses on waterproofing, as issues continue to emerge. Our inspections cover all wet areas to verify that membrane systems have been applied in accordance with industry best practice and comply with Australian Standards AS 3740 and AS 4654.2. We also check waterstop angles, puddle flange installation and shower hob construction.
Waterproofing inspection is often overlooked because it is not a mandatory stage, yet it is one of the costliest to rectify if it fails. When a waterproofing system fails, the substrate and tiling must be removed to expose and assess the membrane, then remedial works can be carried out as required.
Altez employs a dedicated waterproofing specialist who has worked as a leak investigator for insurance companies. This ensures our clients can be confident that our inspectors regularly update their knowledge and maintain expert proficiency in waterproofing matters. We also prepare leak investigation reports as part of insurance-claim assessments for our clients.
