During the base stage of every new construction there is a mandatory inspection many refer to as the pre pouring slab inspection. This inspection takes place before concrete is poured once the formwork and reinforcement steel have been installed. In typical construction the drawings provide all necessary details for either a raft slab or a waffle pod slab. They specify slab thickness, concrete grade, steel grade and sizes, the location of crack control bars, edge‐beam details and more. These reinforcement specifications are designed by the structural engineer based on soil classification and working drawings, so verifying their accuracy makes the base stage inspection one of the most crucial of all stages.
